The Xbox 360 is
a very popular video game console that has some very fun games on
it. This video game console has some components inside it that are a
lot like a computer. As we have our own video game repair service in
the area, we find a lot of Xbox 360 consoles coming in with the red
light error and the E74 error. Within this article, we are going to
tell you some repair tips for those common errors that occur on the
Xbox 360.
When the Xbox 360 first came out, the crowd went wild and this is an
under statement. However, the Xbox 360 came up with some overheating
problems that many users found. These overheating problems did not
just come from the United States, but it came from all over the
world. There were many gamers that were complaining about error
messages that kept popping up and disturbing them when they were in
the middle of game play, which would cause the whole system to
freeze up and the game would not get saved.
After Microsoft looked through the problems, they found that these
common problems come from the hardware components failing.
The Red Light Error
The older model Xbox 360 consoles always seem to get overheated
after playing for only a short amount of time and this can be a big
problem. There is an error message that pops up while you are
playing game, or trying to play game and the red lights show on the
power ring. When we talk about the power ring, we are talking about
the LED lights (generally green) that is surrounding the power
button on the gaming console. There are many users that say there is
an error message called E 74 that pops up on the screen whenever the
console overheats.
The reason why these error messages come up is because the heat
sinks over the processors are failing. You see, the motherboard has
two processors – the GPU and the CPU. There are heat sinks that are
fixed into the motherboard going over the processors by what is
called the X clamp. The heat sink is there in order to collect the
hot air that is around the processors and will cool the air.
If you are looking to solve this problem, then you could send it off
to Microsoft. Microsoft will fix this problem within a couple of
weeks and if the console is still under warranty, then they will do
it for free. However, if it is not under warranty, then they will be
charging you $125.00 just to fix that problem. There may also be
some repair shops in your area that could help you and charge less.
